VisualThe visual works presented herein cover a variety of emotional and imaginative spectra. We deal with both budding amateurs and established professionals, all of whom provide a unique outlook on life. Sculpture named and purchased by the City Clerk of Thunder Bay as a gift to the Lieutenant Governor last fall. Humans have always been subject to the whims of natural forces and have always adapted to big changes in their environments. This painting depicts a small group of people fleeing their island home as it's destroyed by the volcano that created it. This piece is named after the 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition where Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl set out to prove that Pre-Columbian South Americans could have sailed from Peru to the Polynesian islands using the technology of the day. Kon-Tiki is the Inca sun god and the face painted on the sail in this picture is the same Thor had painted on his sail during his great expedition. Poseidon rules the sea and the sea must pay homage to him. It does this by erecting mighty temples of water which rise and fall and reappear constantly. Ever changing, these temples to the god of the sea, are impossible for humans to access yet have the ability to crush anything from the land which dares to attempt entry. They herald the coming of storms and are the children of earthquakes, these are things which Poseidon has dominion over and which he uses liberally. A painting about memory of kin which exists in every person. Very often people forget about this knowledge, or they are afraid of it because they cannot understand it. In Russian mythology there is a magical herb called rupture grass. It tears apart any lock, any barrier, be it physical or psychological. It helps warriors in honest battles, and aids travelers. In this picture, I showed how forces of Nature help people to break their limitations and to come to a new reality. Josh Fullmore brings us our very first drawing inspired by our stories of the Mandragora world, a shattat (from Mandragora: Lonely Grove). Thanks Josh! This is my 50th acrylic painting. Its a 24x48" creation that represents Genesis, a new world and changed environment with a collage of my artistic symbolism and creative spirit. Global warming is a serious issue that now threatens our very existence. The vast subzero arctic landscapes timelessly melting and gently slipping it toes into the ocean.Wind carved and uninhabited, the desolate expanse holds its secrets and treasures. The Canadian north holds infinite beauty beyond the human imagination. In Russian mythology, Gamajun is a Bird who sings The Song of Wisdom. He remembers how our world was created. He knows what will be after the end of our world. For Gamajun all the existence of the world is but a moment. |
